2 Important Steps To Take When Installing Sprinklers

If you have a new yard and need to install new sprinklers before adding grass, then it is important to follow the proper steps. Here are 2 steps that you need to take to make sure that your sprinklers adequately water your yard:

Spacing

Firstly, you need to make sure that your sprinkler installations are close enough together so that the water will overlap spots in your yard slightly when it sprays out of the sprinkler heads.

To do this, you need to first know what kind of sprinkler heads you are getting, and then you need to find out their trajectory. Also, it matters if they can rotate when they are watering because stationary sprinklers will not cover as much ground in general.

Once you know how far the water can spray in the yard, you can figure out where the heads need to go so that there is not a single bare or dry spot.

Also, make sure that the sprinkler heads lining the fence are facing in toward your yard so that the water is not being wasted on someone else's yard.

Timing

Also, when you install your sprinklers, you need to set them on a timer so that they can water at the right times of day. Watering in the middle of a hot, summer day is not a good idea because part of the water will evaporate into the air instead of settling into the yard.

Instead, consider watering early in the morning before the sun rises or late at night when it is dark and cooler again. If you live in an area where the temperature does not drop a lot at night, then consider watering in the middle of the night when the temperature is probably slightly cooler.

It may not get as cold as you would like, but at least your yard will not lose out on as much water.

Also, if you can water your yard twice a day, this is ideal because your yard will get two opportunities to absorb moisture and will be healthier. Just make sure that you do not over water the yard because it will start to turn yellow. If you see signs of too much water, then cut off one of the watering times until the yard looks green again.

By doing these 2 things, you can install the sprinklers properly and run them so that they work at the best times of the day.
